Recessed Shelving

This favorite recessed bookcase detail features a modified chamfered skirting board repurposed as a ledge. Stacking several of these “brackets” atop each other along the inside side of the plaster wall niche and painting the same color as the wall creates a playful profile. Wood shelves easily slide out to achieve desired vertical spacing. It is also a delightful detail for expanded storage in a bathroom.
